The Isle of Wight is an island off the south coast of England. It is connected to the mainland by a ferry from Portsmouth and by a train from London. The Isle of Wight is one of the most popular tourist destinations in England. 

Although historically the Isle of Wight has been part of Hampshire, Wight is a county in its own right. The county is divided into two parts: the larger, more populous part in the east, with a land area of about 1,030 square kilometres (398 sq mi), and the smaller but more densely populated west.

It has been inhabited since before Roman times, and was important in both World War II and the Napoleonic Wars.

The IOW is perfect for those who want to enjoy a relaxing holiday, with beautiful beaches and stunning views. 

Travel

Most car transits between the Isle of Wight and the mainland take between 40 - 45 minutes. The ferry companies generally request you arrive 1 hour to 30 minutes before your scheduled departure.
