Matt Blake, Isle of Wight web designer

Hi, I’m Matt — your Isle of Wight web designer

I live in West Wight, near Totland Bay. I have been designing and building websites for local businesses and charities for over 15 years — long enough to know what actually matters when someone lands on your site at 9pm on their phone.

These days I work with Island businesses through a managed website service: I design your site, host it, keep it secure, and handle updates when things change. You message me when you need something done. That is the whole relationship.

I am not an agency with a sales team and a support portal. I am one person who cares whether your website earns trust before someone picks up the phone. You can read more about me and how I work, or check when I have a build week free.

Why hire a web designer on the Isle of Wight?

Plenty of businesses get pitched by mainland agencies or cheap offshore builders. The site might look fine in a demo — then you need a change, and you are waiting three days for a ticket reply about a thirty-second fix.

Working with an Isle of Wight web designer means you know who built your site, you have a direct line when something needs updating, and the person answering understands how Island businesses actually operate — seasonal trade, ferry logistics, word-of-mouth reputation, and customers who check your site on the beach. If you run a café or restaurant, see what those websites actually need to convert visitors into bookings in our guides on café websites and restaurant websites.

  • Someone on the Island who answers the phone

You are not passed to a ticket queue or an account manager on the mainland. You message me, I sort it — usually the same day.

  • A website built for how people actually find you

Clear pages, plain-English copy, and structure that helps visitors trust you before they call. Mobile-first, because that is how most people browse.

  • Looked after after launch

Hosting, security, updates, and content changes are included. Changed your hours? New photos? Tell me and it is done — you never log into the back end.

Isle of Wight web design — questions I get asked

Straight answers to the things people usually want to know before they get in touch.

How much does a web designer on the Isle of Wight cost?

Most designers quote a one-off project fee, paid upfront. I work differently: £95 a month covers the design, the build, hosting, security and every update after launch. There's no upfront build fee — a £49 refundable deposit holds your build week, and your first month is only due once you've signed off the finished site.

Do I need to know WordPress or anything technical?

No — and you never will. There's no login to look after and no software to learn. When your prices change or you want new photos up, you message me on WhatsApp, phone or email and I make the change, usually the same day.

What if my last web designer let me down?

You're not the only one — I've heard the story of the web guy who took the money and went quiet more times than I can count. That's why nothing is due until you've seen your finished site and signed it off. And I live here, in West Wight. You have my number, and I'm not going anywhere.

What's included in the monthly fee?

Design, build, hosting, security, backups and content updates — the lot. There are no surprise extras for changing your opening hours or adding a new page of prices. The full breakdown is on the homepage, under what's included.

Do you only work with certain kinds of business?

I work with Island small businesses — salons, cafés, restaurants, trades and local services. If your customers are on the Isle of Wight and your website should be bringing them to your door, that's who this is for.

How do I get started?

Check my availability and pick a build week that suits you. We'll have a relaxed conversation about your business — no forms, no jargon — then I design and build the site that week. You review it, I make changes, and it only goes live once you're happy.
