Your website needs words. I’ll write them.
You know the business inside out. Finding the time to explain it on a website is another matter. Tell me how it works, and I’ll turn what you know into pages your customers can use.
Tell me about your businessStart with what people need to know
A blank page is an awkward place to start. So I don’t start there. I start by asking about the customers you want and the questions they ask you.
What do people misunderstand about your service? What do you keep explaining by email? What’s changed since the current website was written?
I’m Matt, and the research and writing are part of how I build your website. You bring what you know about the business. I ask questions, look at how people search, and work out what belongs on each page.
Research becomes a page plan
Search terms show the language people use. They also show where a visitor needs more than a passing mention of a service.
I look at what other websites explain and where there’s room for a clearer answer. Then we plan the pages around your actual business. There’s no point creating a page for a service you don’t offer, however often it gets searched.
Each page gets a purpose: who it’s for, what it has to explain and what someone can do next. There’s a worked example in the guide to choosing your website’s pages.
The words come before the finished design
I write the copy first, then build the design around what the pages need to say. You check the drafts for accuracy and tone.
If a sentence doesn’t sound like you, we change it. If a detail is missing, I ask. You don’t need to polish anything before I can start. And I won’t fill the gaps with made-up claims about your business.
Good material is often already sitting in an old brochure or a reply you sent a customer. Bring what you have. We’ll work out what still fits.
A page for someone arranging help for a parent
For Vectis Home Physio, a relative arranging care needs different information from the person getting the home visit. They might live off the Island and just want to know how to make the first enquiry.
That gave the families-and-carers page its job. It explains how relatives can get involved while keeping the person receiving care part of the decisions. See the Vectis Home Physio project and the other pages it needed.
Writing within Rebuild and Grow
Rebuild costs £2,495. That covers the customer research, the page plan and all the website copy, along with the design and build. Care is mandatory after launch, at £99/month.
Grow costs £2,995: everything in Rebuild, plus three months of content after launch. Each month we have a 45-minute conversation about your work, and I turn that into content for the website.
More three-month content blocks cost £500 each. Care stays at £99/month. No VAT to add. See the full costs and payment stages.
I offer this writing as part of Rebuild and Grow. Standalone copywriting for a site being built elsewhere is outside these packages.
What can the monthly conversation cover?
An explanation you find yourself repeating is a good place to start. So is a recent job that shows how you solved a particular problem.
Your experience decides the subject. It might become an article, a section added to an existing page or a fuller explanation of a service.
You check the facts. I do the writing.
